Every morning I wake before the whole house, sit on my couch that overlooks the deck, open the patio door to let some fresh, crisp air in, pour a cup of coffee, and proceed to write...it can be for you or school...but I have to write in the mornings.
This morning I am sitting returning client emails and doing follow up and one email totally blessed my heart and reminded me of a few things.
First, I want you guys to know, if I recommend someone...they have the highest of moral character and their skill set and knowledge is greater than the norm. I have exceptional clients, they deserve only exceptional clinicians.
I give referrals and recommendations to clients who move away or need care that I can't give. It's a courtesy I don't take lightly. I build a relationship with each of you, you are an extension of my family, you deserve only the best care.
At this point some of you are wondering one of two things...where is she going with this...OR...why is Lisa holding a baby?
This amazing little man belongs to one of my simply amazing clients. For the past two years she has come in each month, we work on her tools of trade...her hands. Carpal tunnel takes many out in her career and she trusts me with her greatest asset as a hygienist. When she found out she was pregnant, again she trusted m with her newest greatest accomplishment...her unborn child.
Throughout the pregnancy we worked through the aches and pains and discomforts. There came a time when she needed more, her body needed more. I referred her to an exceptional chiropractor that holds some impressive training and experience with pregnant women and high risk pregnancy. We continued our work while she was getting the care she needed to have a safe pregnancy and delivery.
Long story short. I got the inspiring privilege of being there while this little man made is way into this world. I had the gracious honor of easing her aches and pains, giving her some peace during the labor process. Later I was able hear how she truly felt about her time with the chiropractor and me, it was good for her body. She was thankful. My heart soared.
I am blessed and continue to be blessed as I get emails thanking me for the new therapist someone is seeing when they moved. Or the progress they made when I referred out. I never view a referral or recommendation as competition, I don't compete...my job is to heal and educate. I have no competition, I am not a traditional therapist.
You are my priority, not pleasing an insurance company.
Our words, our actions, our recommendations all have an impact on those around us. Mine are very public, mostly by choice. We all create a ripple at will return to us one day. I encourage all of you be the positive in other's lives and cherish influence you can have. I can guarantee that you underestimate the influence you have with the people around you. I do.
When there are days that I wonder if I am making a difference with my life, I go back to the emails, the letters and cards, the invitations to share in life changing moments...I cannot wonder anymore.
